It’s a relatively simple procedure to remove or replace the winch rope on a Superwinch Husky winch.
1: Move gear lever into ‘free spool’ and pull the rope all the way out by hand. (This is just quicker than operating the winch to do it).
2. You will see the end of the rope will be slotted into a tunnel at the end of the winch drum and held in place with a small grub screw.
3. Just loosen the grub screw (usually with an allen key) and remove the rope.
Should you wish to replace the rope ensure that you wind the rope back on the correct way with the rope coming out from the bottom of the winch drum otherwise you can potentially damage the winch by operating against the winch drum!
As I say, for most Superwinches this is the same, or the rope can be riveted to the side of the winch drum in some cases, but it’s always a quick and easy job!!
Have fun.
