New Quad Winches and Heavy Duty Industrial Hydraulic Winches and EN Winches due from Champion

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Just a little heads up of new winches that will be landing soon with the Electric Winch Shop from Champion. We have the two extremes of the winch industry coming soon! From the small 2500 lbs capacity XT winch (designed for quads, trailers etc) right upto the very big 88,000 lbs (40,000 KG, 40 ton) capacity industrial hydraulic winch. Probably one of the most powerful hydraulic winches around for large industrial applications. For more info call: 01274 680744

CHAMPION XT WINCHES

Due October 2011 we have the new Champion small XT winches. These are based on the ever popular C2500A, C3500A and C4500EWX winches that will feature synthetic ropes and hawse fairleads which will be targeted at the quad bike and off road buggy market. This is great news for the Electric Winch Shop due to the constant enquiries for this type of winch. At present the option are the Superwinch Terra winches for one which are priced quite a bit higher than the Champion XT’s. (Prices to yet be confirmed).

CHAMPION INDUSTRIAL HYDRAULIC WINCHES

Now then, onto the industrial hydraulic winches! These are used for a variety of applications where very large capacity winches are totally essential, usually working very hard for long periods of time with huge weights. These will usually be bought to order although some stock will be held for urgent requirements.

The initial stockof the Champion Industrial hydraulic winches are due to land in November 2011 and you will be able to buy from the Electric Winch Shop. These are obviously HUGE capacity Champion industrial winches and nothing like the standard smaller hydraulic winches that the Electric Winch Shop are already supplying from Champion, Superwinch and Kingone.

The following models will be available:

C15JP - 33,000 lbs capacity (15,000 Kg - 15 ton)
C20JP - 44,000 lbs capacity (20,000 Kg - 20 ton)
C30JP - 66,000 lbs capacity (30,000 Kg - 30 ton)
C40JP - 88,000 lbs capacity (40,000 Kg - 40 ton)

The Champion JP Series winches are designed and tested for the toughest applications. Minimum rope to drum ratio of 10:1, multi disc frictional brake, balance valve and rope tensioner as standard, and whats more… manufactured to meet GJB80-86 National Military Standard!

It is certainly worth noting that these new hydraulic Champion winches will have the same (or higher) specification as similar winches available in the UK with the same mounting pattern and looking at the prices the Electric Winch Shop will be selling these at, considerably less cost!!

The Electric Winch Shop can now also offer Champion EN compliant winches:

C2500EN - 2500 Kg rated line pull
C4000EN - 4000 Kg rated line pull
C3500ENH (Hydraulic) - 3500 Kg rated line pull

The Champion EN Winches have been developed with the professional operator in mind. They’re designed to ensure that as part of the installation solution they meet the requirements of EN14492:1.

The additional features include 10:1 drum/rope ratio, 2:1 rope ratio, double rope fixing. Along with these special features the winches also come complete with all the excellent features expected from the Champion brand, such as high quality motors, full sealing and stainless steel roller fairleads and fittings!

For those who need to breifly understand the EN standard:

“This European Standard is applicable to the design, information for use, maintenance and testing of power driven winches for which the prime mover is an electric motor, hydraulic motor, internal combustion motor or pneumatic motor. They are designed for the lifting and lowering of loads which are suspended on hooks or other load handling devices or for the lifting and lowering of loads on inclined planes or the exclusive pulling of loads on planes which are normally horizontal. NOTE Within the period of utilization, the place of use of a winch may be variable. As a rule, a winch is used without any additional transport movement. This European Standard is applicable to the following types of winch: a) rope winches; b) chain winches; c) belt winches, except steel belts used as hoisting media; d) traction winches. These types of winches a) to d) also include the following specific applications: - vehicle recovery winches; - winches on boat trailers; - forestry winches; - winches for stationary offshore applications; - winches for drilling applications; - winches to be used exclusively for the pulling of loads. NOTE Examples are shown in Annex A. This European Standard does not apply to: - power-driven hoists in accordance with EN 14492-2; - winches for seagoing vessels and mobile offshore units; - winches for the lifting of persons; - NGL building hoists in accordance with EN 14492-2; - winches for the handling of hot molten masses (risk covered by EN 14492-2). The significant hazards covered by this European Standard are identified in Clause 4. This European Standard does not specify additional requirements for hazards related to the use of winches in explosive atmospheres in underground works. This document applies to winches manufactured after approval by CEN with a transitional period of 2 years.”
