WARN M8000 12v Winch review:-
The Warn M8000 is one of Warn’s ‘Premium’ range of winches designed mainly for 4x4 offroad vehicles. Customers that have bought these winches in the past swear by them and say that once they’ve owned a Warn winch they will never have anything else. It’s down to the build quality. Warn have earnt a name worldwide as being the market leader in high quality winches that in some cases can even outlast your vehicle!
Price can be an issue with Warn with customers not taking a second look at them once they have cought a glimpse of the price tag. However, like most things in life.. you get what you pay for!
The Warn M8000 12v winch is ideal for mounting on your winch bumper and taking those off-road routes you just wouldn’t attempt without one. You can have confidence in the name knowing that the time and effort thats gone into product development will pay off when the going gets tough.
The standard winch out of the box comes with everything you would expect, an assembled winch with 100 foot of steel rope with hook, roller fairlead and a durable handheld wired remote.
Like with most winches you can upgrade your winch to make it that bit better. You can go wireless by buying the WARN wireless remote unit and you can upgrade the standard steel wire rope for a synthetic type rope such as a Dyneema or Plasma rope.
The Warn M8000 is a relatively compact winch compared to it’s rivals making it easy to mount in smaller spaces and gives you piece of mind that it’ll pretty much fit into any of the winch bumpers on the market as it has a shorter motor than most and a shorter gearbox than it’s competitors.
The winch also has the standard mounting bolt pattern of 254mm x 114mm so again will fit most predrill winch mount plates available.
The M8000 is fitted with a powerful 4.8 hp Series Wound motor and fitted with a 3-stage planetary geartrain. The gearbox, like most winches, is fitted with a clutch lever so you are able to disengage the winch gears to freespool the rope out by hand when required. With this being a Warn this is a lot easier and smoother than other makes to do.
With the huge discount mentioned at the start of this article, it’s a great winch for a really great price.
